How to connect Claude and Claude Code to agents on another machine

Run peerband setup on each machine with agents, then add https://mcp.peerband.com/mcp as a custom connector in Claude, or with claude mcp add in Claude Code. One connection reaches every machine on your account.

Pair each machine

On every computer where agents run in Herdr (a laptop, a desktop, a home server), install the CLI and run setup. Each one shows up as its own machine in your dashboard.

peerband setup

Give machines clear names with peerband setup --name office-pc. The name defaults to the computer's host name.

Claude (web, desktop and mobile)

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector.
  2. Paste https://mcp.peerband.com/mcp and save.
  3. Connect, sign in to PeerBand and approve access. Approve message access only if Claude should send instructions.
  4. Enable the connector in a chat and ask "Which of my agents are blocked?"

Claude Code

Add PeerBand as a remote MCP server, then run /mcp inside Claude Code to sign in:

claude mcp add --transport http peerband https://mcp.peerband.com/mcp

Now an agent on your laptop can check on, or hand work to, an agent on your desktop. It addresses the other agent by its ID from list_agents, never by whichever pane has focus.

Choosing a machine

The tools take an optional installation_id. With one machine, or exactly one online, you can leave it out. Otherwise Claude calls list_machines first and picks the machine by name.

Questions

Does this replace Claude Code Remote Control?

They solve different problems. Remote Control continues one Claude Code session from another device. PeerBand reaches every agent in Herdr on all your machines, of any kind, from any MCP client, and lets you share access with other people.

Does it work with other MCP clients?

Yes, any client that supports remote Streamable HTTP MCP servers with OAuth. Clients that can't do OAuth can use a personal MCP token from the dashboard, where it is enabled.

What happens when the machine is asleep?

Its tools report it as offline. The machine must be awake with Herdr running. The connector reconnects on its own after sleep or a network drop.
